Portals

Moments when you bend so far you break and come out someone else.

What it is

Portals are my word for thresholds: “moments in which we bend, pull, or push so much that we break and become someone else, hopefully improved (learned) or realigned.” I call them portals because they’re obvious when they happen and the change is as clear as glass. You could call them core memories.

You don’t always choose them. You do choose what you carry through.

How it shows up for me

I can name a few in my life: the day someone told me to get help, the first night home with a newborn. Each one split my life into before and after.
