What it is
When a movement isn’t stopped by a target, its energy has to go somewhere. Braking it hard costs you, and it leaves you stuck at the end of the motion. The better move is to let the momentum carry you into whatever comes next.
How it shows up for me
I found it practicing with wooden swords. Slowing down after a downward strike felt completely unnatural, as if every cut expected something to hit. When I stopped fighting it, the cut wanted to rotate to one side, because it was never perfectly vertical to begin with. Going with that felt right.
I think about it outside training too. When a conversation or a project ends sooner than I planned, I try not to slam on the brakes. Where does this energy want to go next?
