What it is
Menor esfuerzo posible, or MEP, is Spanish for “least possible effort”: doing only what’s required, coasting, choosing the easy road by default.
I use it as the counterpoint to my effort ethic. And the honest part is that the problem isn’t only MEP itself. It’s what happens in me when I see it: I start grading people, and grading turns into contempt.
How it shows up for me
I come from people who worked hard and I’m proud of that, but I’ve learned that my judgment of “lazy” people can be its own failure. Sometimes what looks like MEP is exhaustion. Sometimes it’s someone choosing rest better than I do.
