What it is
Off-camera virtue is love or labor done where no one can witness it: the dishes at midnight, the bill paid quietly, the hard conversation you had with yourself instead of with someone else. By the rules most homes and workplaces actually run on, it doesn’t count, because nobody saw it.
That doesn’t make it less real. It does make it easy to resent.
How it shows up for me
I’ve kept score of my invisible work and then felt bitter that nobody thanked me for what they couldn’t see. Now I try one of two things: do it without needing the credit, or say it out loud without making it a complaint.
