The calibration pendulum

Swinging between too much and too little while you learn. The work is a smaller swing, not no swing.

What it is

When you’re changing a habit, you overshoot. Too loud becomes too quiet, too harsh becomes too soft, then back. The calibration pendulum is that swing. It isn’t a flaw, it’s what learning looks like from the inside.

The goal isn’t to stop the pendulum. It’s to shorten it, so each swing lands a little closer to the middle.

How it shows up for me

I swing a lot. I’ll go from too intense to so careful I’m barely there. Seeing it as a pendulum instead of a failure lets me adjust without throwing out the whole effort.
