Improvement

One percent a day doesn't look like much. Give it a year.

What it is

Getting a little better at something, on purpose, over time. The key words for me are continuous, directional, and not perfectionist. It’s about the direction you’re facing, not about being done.

How it shows up for me

I apply it to three things: my craft, my health, and my character. The trap is turning it into a scoreboard where nothing is ever good enough. That’s perfectionism wearing improvement’s clothes. So I try to measure against who I was last month, not against an ideal I’ll never reach.
