What it is
When we’re out in public, we stay aware of everyone around us. Just a good glimpse. That car driving by: take a look, find a face, the color, the plate’s state. In this world, you never know.
But that’s it. Stop there. You don’t need a judgment or a theory, just awareness. If you ever need it, you have it. If you don’t, even better. At home, in private, you can relax.
How it shows up for me
I practice it with my kids in parking lots and on walks. It’s not fear, it’s attention. The rule I care about most is the “stop there” part, so awareness doesn’t turn into suspicion of strangers.
