I only know half of it

Assume your insight is always incomplete. Life gets easier.

What it is

A standing assumption: whatever I think I understand, I only know half of it. I’m always somewhat flawed, my view is always partial. Once that’s installed for everything, life becomes easier, because I stop defending positions I never fully had.

How it shows up for me

It makes me better in arguments, at work and at home. “I only know half of it” opens the door for the other person’s half.

The honest risk is using it to avoid ever committing to anything. Humility is staying open. It isn’t refusing to decide.
