Making love, as a practice

Offering yourself with full presence. Defined by the quality of attention, not by the act.

What it is

Making love, as a practice, is offering your full presence to someone, or to yourself. What separates it from sex isn’t the act or the relationship label. It’s the quality of attention and recognition: being completely there, seeing and being seen.

Understood this way, it reaches beyond the bedroom: cooking for someone, holding a child, listening without checking your phone.

How it shows up for me

For a long time I thought of intimacy as something that happens to you if the conditions are right. Seeing it as a practice made it mine to show up for, even on ordinary days.
