What it is
Robot mode is my name for a state of total concentration: breathe, lock in, perform, get it done, feelings later. It’s the mode that wins deadlines, games and hard weeks.
The cost is that the person inside the robot doesn’t get looked after. An AI once summed it up for me as self-abandonment for performance, and it stung because it was fair.
How it shows up for me
In my own words: “It’s just robot mode, let’s perform. I hate it, but I love it because it gives me money, skills, relationships, everything.” I’m not trying to get rid of it. I’m trying to make sure I come back out of it and take care of the guy who did all that work.
