What it is
Some kids get stuck in a loop: do the thing, apologize, do it again, apologize again. The apology becomes a ritual that replaces the change. One way out is a short phrase: “No tienes que pedir perdón, solo deja de gritar.” You don’t have to say sorry, just stop yelling.
It favors effective action over performative words.
How it shows up for me
I use it with my kids, and it works in the moment. I’m also honest that it leaves questions open, and I don’t have the answers yet. Does stopping repair the hurt the behavior caused? Can a young child stop on command without being shown how? And how does a kid learn when an apology really matters? I don’t want to teach them that apologies are worthless.
