The belief
Ideas are free. Frameworks are free. Writing like this should be free. What someone can fairly sell you is a product you actually use, not access to a thought.
Where it comes from
I’ve learned almost everything I know from people who gave it away: blog posts, forums, open source, a friend explaining something at lunch. Charging for the idea itself always felt to me like charging for the air.
How it shows up for me
Everything on this site is free and will stay free. No ads, no paywall. If it helps you and you want to support it, there’s Patreon, and that’s it.
The honest tension is that I still need to make a living, and “ideas are free” is easier to say with a job.
