Concept

Worth is not usefulness

A truly developed world would not make people earn the right to be treated with dignity.

What it is

Somewhere along the way, we replaced the idea of being human with the idea of being useful. A truly developed world wouldn’t require a person to earn the right to be treated with dignity. If dignity has to be earned, we aren’t a society. We’re a competition disguised as one.

How it shows up for me

I believe this, and I also catch myself measuring people, and myself, by output. When I meet someone, the first question is often “what do you do?” I’m trying to replace it with “what are you into lately?”
