The belief
Feedback is king for everything I do. Bringing in people who know a topic better than I do, and hearing what they think, flattering or not, positive or negative, always levels up whatever they touch.
Where it comes from
Work taught it to me, over and over. Some of the best leaps I’ve made came from a single comment by a colleague who saw something I couldn’t. Lately I’ve been learning from both younger and older peers at the same job, and I keep asking what changed: am I wiser, or just listening better?
How it shows up for me
I ask for reviews on almost everything, including the writing on this site. I try to treat a hard note as a gift, because somebody spent their attention on my work.
I always listen, yes. But I can listen better, and listen more. I still get defensive in the first minute, and I’m still working on letting that minute pass before I answer.
